Fincantieri, Viking Sea, Viking Ocean Cruises
“Viking Sea”, the second in a series of six cruise ships commissioned by the shipping company Viking Ocean Cruises from the Fincantieri shipbuilders, leader in Italy and around the world, was recently delivered at the shipyard in Ancona.
The ship was designed by architects and naval engineers with extensive experience, including a team of interior design from Smc Design in London, and the firm Rottet from Los Angeles, aiming to give the “Viking Sea” a modern design with Scandinavian inspiration, marked by a blend of functional yet sophisticated elegance.
To create an electrical system in line with this concept, Fincantieri chose the devices and cover plates from the Vimar Plana series, renewing their long-standing collaboration with the company from Marostica.
Fitted in two versions - white for the communal areas and silver for the cabins – once again Plana has made its mark for the ease with which it blends into different settings: from bedrooms to bathrooms, from corridors to halls. With its minimalist and ergonomic design, exquisite and easy-to-clean materials and comprehensive functions, this series is the ideal companion to ensure travel comfort and well-being.
In addition to the sockets and switches, all rooms are also fitted with Vimar card readers. Simply place the card in the slot to switch on the lights and set the temperature to the required level. To travel in top style and comfort. In addition to these, the flush-mounted USB sockets in the two-module version. Supplying a current of up to 2.1 A - through the special High Power outlet - the USB sockets can charge even the most powerful devices - such as 10” tablets – in less than 6 hours. This makes them particularly suited to a context like this, where devices often have to be fully charged overnight. The Vimar USB sockets ensure top functionality while keeping a watchful eye on design. They blend perfectly with the Plana cover plates, offering a perfect balance of simplicity and attention to detail.
“Viking Sea” lies in the small sized market segment. It has a gross tonnage of around 47,800 tonnes, 465 cabins carrying up to 930 passengers, with a total capacity of over 1,400, including the crew.
