Call-way by Vimar: serving people with assistance and efficiency
Designing a healthcare facility able to recreate the reassuring atmosphere of being at home involves creating a location that can accommodate and welcome, but at the same time provide help and care.
Not far from the old town centre of Vicenza in an impressive historic building, this type of facility exists and Vimar has contributed to its realization; a structure wherein the main objective is to promote and safeguard personal dignity and which for many years has maintained its reputation for the quality of services offered and the highly qualified staff.
The area of the centre reserved for Alzheimer's patients immediately distinguishes itself from the rest of the structure. Here the therapeutic space is an even more crucial aspect of patient protection due to the nature of the pathology and every detail must be carefully considered.
The design, therefore, had to take a variety of needs into account, contribute to the welfare of patients and, above all, participate decisively in the recognition of spaces and the orientation of patients, provide stimulation and highlight any dangers; it had to relate with persons in a general state of discomfort yet provide complex services, designed to require simple actions and be in tune with the finishes, furnishings and colours.
In this context, the Call-way system by Vimar was a fundamental element of the restructuring project; this call management system for hospitals is designed to improve the organisational structure in which it implemented, increasing the level of service and safety, managing essential functions such as emergency responses and assistance for patients.
The functions of Call-way by Vimar are mainly handled through a small display module which is easy to read and use. Installed in all patient rooms, bathrooms, and rooms reserved for medical personnel, it allows patients to call for assistance by simply pressing a button to immediately alert physicians or nurses, who immediately see – via acoustic and light signals – any requests for assistance, including the location from where the call originated. A particularly useful green button is also available, which helps care workers by allowing them to signal their presence in the room and thus cancel the previous emergency call.
In addition to the display module, the Call-way system includes special tail call leads on bed heads and cord-operated buttons in the bathrooms: both allow calls for the timely assistance of on-duty staff.
Each type of call has a corresponding light installed outside the bedrooms or bathrooms, where the Call-way system informs staff with special coloured lights: red lights indicate assistance requests, white indicates calls from the bathroom, while green indicates the presence of medical personnel.
In the private rooms, corridors and public areas – where the bright orange colours of the walls and the acid green of the hand rails were chosen to indicate the specific pathology of the hospitalised patients and because of the positive effect that colour can have in their daily lives – the soft forms of the Plana series in candid white polymer stand out. The Vimar devices for lighting control are perfectly coordinated with the Call-way system and contribute to the rebirth of a health care facility that, even in the details, wants to provide the best possible hospitality and assistance to people in need.
