Sterni House
The Gaetana Sterni nursing home, which opened on November 26, 1968, from the outset provided elderly guests with moral and physical support in a peaceful environment, respectful of people, their dignity, their family and social relationships. The Institute of the Sisters of the Divine Will wanted to provide a solution the town of Bassano for an emerging need, on the request of those who viewed their future with trepidation. The name "Gaetana Sterni" is in recognition of a great woman from Bassano who, from 1853-1889, dedicated all her intelligence, courage and determination to the Bassano nursing home. Sterni House services female guests and is staffed by qualified personnel, medical staff and care workers. The nuns of the Sisters of the Divine Will are highly people-focused, offering many simple and precious services across the five departments, organising moments of worship and spirituality. The organisation of the facility is oriented to the maintenance of the psychological well-being of the guest and the creation of a familiar environment, where everyone can move freely.
The house is equipped with bright and spacious common areas without access barriers. Each guest enjoys an individual room with a bathroom, which she may decorate with her own furniture, so as to have sentimental and familiar objects close by. The involvement of the families of the guests is considered essential and is heavily promoted, because it is through this network of relationships that fosters the serenity of the people and the environment.
To offer the best possible service and safety to the guests of Sterni House, a system for handling calls was installed to allow personnel to more effectively manage, from various locations, the needs of guests and any emergencies in the 71 rooms distributed over 4 floors: an easy to use system which is versatile and allows the future addition of other functions. The project involved replacing an existing acoustic call management system with traditional wiring, and the Call-way system was chosen to meet the needs of call management, able to function with the installation limitations imposed. Simple, intuitive, immediate: Call-way was designed to be the natural helper of those who need to make decisions and take action in a few seconds. The presence of Call-way in each room is a very comforting sign for patients, who really feel that they are the centre of attention. The Call-way system features high interoperability, it can work with fixed or mobile phone networks, DECT and pagers, forming an integrated communication system.
At Sterni House, there is a display module in each room which is connected devices to tail call leads on each bed and integrated into the Plana series. A simple push on the button and Call-way immediately actives a call signal, turns on the lights outside the door and sends a visual and acoustical signal to the displays installed in the surveillance area and anywhere medical staff are present. Nurses needs only check the display to determine where the call originated and go directly to that room. Simultaneously, inside the room, the Call-way system turns on a red light to advise the patient that the call has been forwarded.
While in the adjoining bathroom, a cord-operated button sends a different call to represent bathroom assistance.
