Vimar acknowledged as a Historic Brand of National Interest
Considering it to be a national brand of excellence, historically tied to the territory and with a registered trademark or used continuously for at least 50 years, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development has added Vimar to the Register of Historic Brands of National Interest. This prestigious accolade testifies to the brand’s ongoing ability to make entrepreneurial “history”, both national and pertaining to excellence Made in Italy.
Established in 1945 in Marostica (VI), where it continues to design and manufacture its products, Vimar succeeded in quickly making the most of the opportunities arising from a rapidly-growing market. From simple lampholders, plugs, socket outlets, pins for household irons and glass or porcelain 1-way switches, the product range quickly grew in the late 1960s, launching the first wiring series which revolutionised the concept of the lighting device, introducing the principle of safety in electrical materials.
Ever since, the brand’s products have been designed to guarantee the absolute protection of their users and they are the result of tested components, guaranteed materials and unique patents. Such as the “Sicury” protective shutter patent dating back to 1968 which prevents curious tots from accidentally coming into contact with live parts of the socket outlets. Deemed too important for keeping people safe, the patent was granted free of charge to all manufacturers and quickly became a normative standard.
Keeping up with household styles, architectural trends of the moment and new technologies, Vimar has over the years managed to develop and grow its product offering, adapting it continuously to the market needs. The By-me home automation system was launched, where famous designers crafted the wiring series, and, with the acquisition of Elvox in 2011, Vimar’s catalogue was also supplemented with video door entry and video surveillance systems. The brand also fully embraces all the latest state-of-the-art digital technologies. Indeed, the catalogue has seen the introduction of the world of the IoT with smart solutions designed to ensure comfort, safety and energy efficiency along with total supervision via smartphone, thanks to simple Apps designed to cater to the needs of users, or via voice control.
Today Vimar is one of the leading Italian players on the electronic and electrical scene. Boasting over 12,000 items distributed across more than 100 countries, 200 million parts produced each year, 1,300 employees, 1,000 of whom in Italy, 4 production plants in Marostica, 9 branch offices world-wide, Vimar is a benchmark for anyone looking for top-performing solutions, quality products, technological innovation as well as bewitching designs in keeping with the latest style trends.
Being included in the register of historic brands is therefore the crowning achievement of more than 75 years of experience and tradition which have enabled Vimar and Italy to grow all over the world.
