Product Enviroment Profile - PEP Ecopassport
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a voluntary declaration verified by a third party that aims to measure the environmental performance of a product based on LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) analysis, designed to determine and define the resource consumption and environmental impact of each life cycle stage of the product.
For electric and electronic products, the reference programme is PEP Ecopassport. This is an international programme that sets the criteria to be used for LCA in order to comply with the requirements of the ISO 14025 standard. EPD documents can be used in different context, for instance in the sustainability protocols of buildings at both local and international level.
EPD-PEP certificates can contribute to earning credits for LEED and BREEAM certifications, which guarantee the compliance of residential and commercial buildings with internationally recognised sustainability performance requirements. What’s more, they can contribute to achieving the reference Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) within Italian public tenders.
Design planning and production
We implement innovative techniques for a production process with a reduced environmental impact.
Thanks to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), we are in a position to assess and improve: the choice of raw materials and the production of finished products, distribution, installation and use, through to end-of-life management.
The high-turnover products from the Eikon, Linea, Arké and Plana wiring series and the junction boxes have been assessed using the LCA method (ISO 14040 and ISO 14044) and have earned the PEP Eco Passport environmental declaration.
An ongoing improvement process
Thanks to the product environmental performance assessment and certification process, we are now more aware of the potential impact they might have on the environment, and this has allowed us to define ongoing areas of improvement in the various stages of the process.
