Plana continues world tour
After MSC Musica and MSC Fantasia, Plana - in the white technopolymer version - will also sail the seas aboard the MSC Splendida, the new flagship of the MSC Cruises fleet.
The new ship was christened in splendid style on Saturday 12 July, in the magnificent port of Barcelona. The ceremony was accompanied by a spectacular gala show starring Spanish Catalan tenor José Carreras, accompanied by the 60 musicians of the Vallès Symphony Orchestra and the most famous flamenco dancer in the world: Joaquìn Cortés. The event also included an appearance by soul singer and UNICEF ambassador Amii Stewart.
The ceremony was completed by the parade of the officials and the long-awaited cutting of the tricolour ribbon by the godmother of the MSC fleet, Italian screen legend Sophia Loren. The event culminated in a dazzling firework display over the sea.
MSC Splendida and sister ship MSC Fantasia, launched in Naples last December, are the largest ships ever built for a European ship owner. Each capable of carrying 3,959 passengers, these floating cities are 333 metres long, 66.8 metres high and weigh 137,936 tonnes.
The decision to choose Plana once again underlines the success of this residential series which is distinguished by its easy installation and suitability for different settings: from bedrooms and bathrooms to corridors and spacious lounges.
With its minimalist and ergonomic design, exquisite and easy-to-clean materials, wide range of colours, comprehensive functions and elegant laser-engraved symbols with night-time backlighting, Plana is the ideal companion to ensure travel comfort and wellbeing.
