In Shanghai's MAM, artist Shay Frisch will shape the positive energy of Vimar
Having played the starring role in Shay Frisch's works in recent years, Vimar multi-standard adaptors will shape energy through cutting-edge installations, on display from 30th March to 15th June at Shanghai's Modern Art Museum.
An industrial designer by trade, with a master from the Domus Academy in Milan, Frish was introduced to the art world by Rome-based gallery owner Plinio De Martiis. Since the very beginning, the underlying element of his works has always been energy, which inspires the artist to give it shape by modelling and manipulating it.
In the exhibition, called Halo, previewed on Saturday 29th March, the artist reinterprets the meaning of the halo with a contemporary twist, drawing on historical, spiritual, and technological themes. An invitation to engage with energy as a physical phenomenon and, at the same time, a metaphor for infinite possibilities; light becomes a visible manifestation of electricity, and incandescent forms, manifestations of invisible electromagnetic fields. His works, consisting of assemblies of Vimar adaptors, plugs, and socket outlets, arranged in geometric formations, monochrome black or white, have the peculiarity of conducting electricity to take shape and invite us to consider the concept of aura as an immaterial and kinetic force that emanates power, conviction, and influence.
In a world saturated with artificial light, Frisch's work, presented in his first museum exhibition in China, thus restores a sense of mystery to the luminous form, creating a bridge between past and present, connecting the sacred and the profane. His modular installations adapt to the surrounding environment, integrating with architectural spaces and creating places that feel both charged and meditative.
At the Modern Art Museum in Shanghai, it will therefore be possible to transcend the boundaries of perception and, thanks to the partnership with Vimar, admire the shape of energy.
