With displacement of 152,000 tons, length of 323 metres, height of more than 60 metres, and 2,100 cabins for the passengers and 750 for the crew, MSC Seaside is in all respects a record-breaking ship.
The MSC flagship has been designed by Fincantieri specifically to accommodate sun-seekers. Because this, the fourteenth vessel in the MSC fleet, will transport the company's guests straight to Miami, bringing them closer to the ocean than ever before. To enable this, the vessel has large outdoor areas, to enable guests to enjoy the view while at the same time not missing any of the activities typical of a holiday of this kind. Seaside has been conceived to enhance passengers' experience and offer them something unique.
So, inevitably, it would not have been complete without Vimar design and technology. The exclusive air of the guest cabins - in a unique style inspired by that of the apartments overlooking the shore in Miami – is further enhanced by the Eikon Evo series lines.
Installed in refined aluminium, they provide the frames for buttons, controls and sockets of various kinds: from conventional types to the electric shaver sockets in the bathrooms. The flush mounting USB sockets installed in every cabin, for example, are able to supply a current of up to 2.1 A - through the special High Power output - and can charge even the most powerful devices - such as 10” tablets – in less than 6 hours. This makes them ideal in a context like this, where devices often have to be fully charged overnight.
For the crew areas, on the other hand, the interior designers chose the Plana series, with timeless, minimalist lines that will never go out of fashion. In this case, buttons, sockets and controls are surrounded by plates in brushed aluminium, a material that fits perfectly into the modern style of these interiors.
To complete an array of first-class equipment - which puts the electrical system firmly at the state of the art - Vimar has also supplied the cabin signalling system. This remotely indicates cabins' status along the corridors by means of LED lights, signalling the “do not disturb”, “unoccupied”, “occupied”, and “cabin cleaning requested” functions. Similarly, a series of customised screen-printed controls simplifies life on board for both crew and passengers by making all main electrical system functions clear at a glance.
In addition to leading-edge technology, MSC Seaside also has a series of distinctive, innovative features not found on any other vessel. Two exclusive glass catwalks and a "Bridge of Sighs" at a height of 40 metres, giving guests a view of the ocean never possible before. Not to mention a waterfront promenade, the largest ever built on a ship, running all around the vessel.
A cruise on MSC Seaside therefore becomes an extraordinary experience, which - thanks also to the wide range of Vimar solutions developed to offer the ideal accommodation for every type of guest - should certainly not be missed.
