Plana sets sail with “Britannia”, the new flagship of the P&O Cruises fleet
Presented on 22 February last at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Britannia is the largest passenger ship ever built by the Italian shipbuilding group.
The ship has 1,837 cabins, weighs 144,000 tonnes, is 330 metres long and 38 metres wide, and has a total capacity of over 5,700 people, including the crew.
With its brand new "future-proof design", cutting-edge lay-out and performances, and complying with all the latest regulations applicable to cruise ships, including the "Safe return to port" security system, Britannia is fitted out with devices and commands from the Vimar Plana series. Carrying electricity throughout the ship, guaranteeing maximum safety and a sophisticated design.
The essential lines of Plana, chosen in both fresh white and elegant ivory finish, give shape to keys of different sizes, backlit with a soft light that consumes very little. While intuitive laser-engraved symbols indicate the different functions and quiet mechanisms operate the various commands and control the various functions.
Nothing is left to chance, everything has been studied down to the finest detail, to offer security and well-being. From the switches fitted on the beds to control the lighting in different rooms, to the universal sockets to connect a whole range of electrical devices; from step marker torches that make it possible to see in the dark even in the cabins, to the shaver sockets installed in all the bathrooms on board.
With this latest, prestigious ship, the long-standing partnership between Vimar and Fincantieri is sealed once again. Two companies that have made Italian-made quality one of their key strengths.
