Excelsior Hotel Gallia shines again with Idea by Vimar
Excelsior Hotel Gallia is one of the icons and points of reference of Milanese life. Recently subjected to a meticulous and complete restoration, including the addition of a new modern wing, the hotel in the centre of the Milanese capital has returned to shine in all its glory.
Managed by the multi-award winning Marco Piva architectural studio, the extensive architectural restoration and interior design combines a modern look with the original Belle Epoque style of the hotel. The interiors reflect the style of Milanese life and the timeless elegance of the Art Deco period, enlivened by unique décor exclusively created by the best Italian designers and artisans.
One such example is the spectacular 30-metre high Murano glass chandelier that welcomes guests at the entrance, creating a veritable cascade of light that illuminates the entire historic staircase spanning seven floors. The hall pays homage to the incredible Milanese architecture of the 1930s, as does the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery.
The architect Marco Piva states that the aim was to “create a space linked to the history of excellence of the city of Milan, a special space that integrated and exalted the values of architecture, design, lifestyle and fashion. The project aimed to re-establish an example of style and elegance, welcoming and refined hospitality for the city and visitors from all over the world.”
Vimar has provided its products to support the rebirth of a site that stands out for its historical and architectural importance. Embedded in the walls like a jewel, the elegant profile of the Idea series contains the installations of an electrical system equipped with all the features needed for guests. The switch plates feature the precise lines of the Classic model, in two variants: silver metal and metal-coloured brushed nickel. The first has white switches and the second anthracite grey, deliberately selected to exalt the colour contrast.
As the architect Marco Piva points out,“Vimar was chosen from a number of companies for all the public areas in the hotel because the company was considered the most able to meet the managerial needs of a complex accommodation structure such as the Excelsior Hotel Gallia. The technical performance of its products complement and integrate with multimedia technology and the lighting contexts, designed to accommodate the most diverse events related to the arts, lifestyle, business or sport. The Idea range with its precise design and variations of finishes, allowed us to give visual expression to our project theme, inspired by Milanese Deco with a contemporary interpretation. Minimalist geometry, luminous colours, a consistent and harmonious image in which every detail makes a statement but at the same time co-exists within the context to recount an emotional and measured story, of geometrical perception and aesthetic splendour”.
Apart from beauty, Idea also guarantees the highest level of comfort. Every suite offers an extensive array of sockets, from those designed specifically for razors in the bathroom to those for telephonic use, meeting every type of need and guaranteeing the highest level of safety.
In both of the Hotel's main buildings - the historical structure and the new modern wing, with a façade reminiscent of a light curtain made from steel and glass, Vimar installations are the perfect addition for a context in which timeless elegance enriches every single moment.
The structure inspired by an illustrious past and the emerging skyline of the Porta Nuova area offers a surprising interplay of contrasts. It is in this very new pulsating centre of Milanese life that Vimar is at home, having already supplied its products and technology to the Bosco Verticale, winner of the prestigious International Highrise Award, and le Varesine.
With Idea by Vimar the Excelsio Hotel Gallia the lights shine once again on the Excelsior Hotel Gallia, offering its guests a unique and authentic experience in an environment that is rich in tradition and everlasting appeal.
