Palazzo Bontadosi Hotel & Spa is a splendid combination of art de vivre, elegance, creativity and the ability to transcend time in a new way.
This boutique hotel overlooks the main square in Montefalco, a jewel-town containing a rich heritage of art - indeed, it is one of the key centres for Umbrian Renaissance painting -at the same time offering wondrous views of the rolling green hills that surround it.
Built in the early 1400s, until the 19th century the palace was owned by the important Bontadosi family, from which it took its name, thereafter being sold to a family of papal pharmacists and alchemists.
Instead, the history of the hotel is much more recent: indeed, it opened in 2009, with the aim of endowing the territory with a top level hospitality facility. Twelve bedrooms were created in its spaces - 5 Superior, 3 Deluxe, 3 Junior Suites and 1 Suite - as well as a restaurant, a wellness centre and an art gallery. So a container of different moods: not only hospitality, but also wellbeing, beauty and taste.
All different from one another but linked by a clever combination of ancient and modern, and by a close attention to detail, the rooms are bound by an invisible harmony, but each one stands out thanks to the details that make them unique, such as the splendid original frescoes, the furniture and decorative elements.
And the array of technology present in the hotel is also unique. Indeed, the electrical system was recently renewed and integrated with the By-me home automation system. For smaller hotels - such as Palazzo Bontadosi - in fact, this is the ideal solution as it enables the rooms to be automated and monitored directly from the reception desk. With this solution, the lights, climate control and automations of each individual room can be managed locally by the guest or regulated centrally using the tablet in reception. This is possible courtesy of the web server, a device that also enables the entire home automation system to be controlled remotely using the intuitive By-web app, so giving the owners and staff constant full control over the whole hotel.
In this way the status of the room - free or occupied - can be checked, and also the lighting and temperature in each environment, so that if necessary, the staff can intervene, eliminating the potential risk of wasting energy.
Although these operations can be performed centrally by the staff, each room is also fitted with home automation controls and transponder card readers, allowing the guests to set their favourite conditions and securely access their accommodation.
However, Vimar technology was also chosen for another fundamental reason: to preserve all the hotel’s precious legacies left by history intact, such as frescoes, plasterwork, stuccoes and floors. Indeed, the owners wanted to avoid having to intervene with masonry works and this was possible by installing a Vimar multi-function home automation module in every room, a panel device that created a home automation system with no need to perform invasive interventions. It was installed simply by connecting the Bus cable to its inputs and outputs. In this way, the module became the true “heart” of the room, also thanks to the two specific pre-settings for the hotel in which it is fitted. One is the ‘’Climate’’ setting, which relies on simple logics to act on the fan-coils and temperature, preventing futile energy wastages caused by guests leaving the climate control devices on, or the windows open when leaving the room. The other is the ‘’Lights’’ configuration, which is designed to create lighting scenarios when the guest enters or leaves the room (general off). For a hotel that became smart from this perspective, adapting from time to time to meet the requirements of its guests.
And while the Vimar technology makes the work of the hotel staff easier, and offers guests the best in terms of comfort, the design of the devices installed adds additional value to the interiors of this hospitality facility. To frame the Vimar controls, the Arké series in two different kinds was chosen, both in the Round version in metal, but in different shades - polar matt total look and bronze matt - so that they blend in perfectly with every environment.
In this way, surrounded by such great beauty, the guests who stay at Palazzo Bontadosi are ready for an unforgettable experience, courtesy also of the technological contribution of the Vimar devices.
