Well-contact Plus: between charm and functionality
A historic home. A building that, in the centuries gone by, once hosted an ancient monastic order. A building that is rooted in the history of the city of Ascoli Piceno. A building that is now a boutique hotel following long and complex restoration work. Palazzo dei Mercanti is all this and much more.
Eighteen – including three suites – elegant rooms with furniture custom made by local craftsmen provide exclusive accommodation and offer the opportunity to experience its history without giving up the pleasures of comfort.
Passing under the total stone façade of the building reveals the unique atmosphere inside. A travertine portal surmounted by an emblem with a radiant sun in the centre welcomes guests, while the superbly restored and charming cloister on three levels with numerous arches and columns can be admired in all its splendour.
A feeling of peace – in part due to the mystique of this place and in part to the careful arrangement of lights, colours and fabrics – pervades throughout the building. The structure, in fact, promises a sojourn in a quiet and cosy atmosphere that takes you back in time and allows guests to experience moments of complete relaxation.
And in a structure like this, where every aspect has been carefully addressed in every detail, the optimised management of the rooms and areas was entrusted to the Well-contact Plus hotel management system, by Vimar.
A unique automation system that allows for complete control of the different environments. The lighting in all areas for example can be monitored and managed from a single point, the front desk. Here, via the user-friendly Well-contact Suite software interface, staff can adjust the comfort settings of the rooms directly from the computer. There is never the need to leave reception to check whether the lights have been left on, if the climate control settings are right, if someone has entered a room without permission, or if an alarm is triggered. Truly unique comfort, but also a way to optimise energy consumption and therefore lower costs.
Access to the system with different profiles also allows for selective control of different environments: for example, the hotel manager can supervise all the rooms and areas, change the temperature and lighting settings and program various functions, while the receptionist can only access a subset of these functions through her separate profile.
Also, system flexibility is guaranteed with the KNX standard, whereby each device has its own resident "intelligence" to directly perform its required functions directly while being able to dialogue with all the other elements in the network. Thus, for example, the malfunction of any one device does not interfere with the correct operation of all the other devices in the room.
Along the elegant corridors that wind around the central cloister, transponder readers can be seen outside of the suites – stylish, reassuring and unique – as well as the rooms. Nearing an access card a corresponding reader releases the electric lock and turns on the courtesy lights. The reader instantly recognises the guests card and thus restricts access to authorised persons only.
Complementary the external transponder readers are the readers with vertical pockets inside every room. Like all the Vimar devices in the building, these are framed with Plana series plaques in matt silver coloured polymer. Rigorous in design, elegant in appearance and refined in detail, Plana blends naturally into these environments and matches the pastel colours of the walls and furnishings wonderfully. The simple insertion of the card in the pocket activates the lights and brings the temperature to the desired level. For the ultimate in comfort.
A historic residence and a hotel equipped with all the comforts, these two souls of Palazzo dei Mercanti live in harmony here and guarantee guests an unforgettable stay, under the discreet and intelligent surveillance of Well-contact Plus.
